Hi all! While there is some disappointing news below, I want you to remember this:
Theaters were always our first step for EMPIRE WAIST before going on-demand and streaming worldwide. This story is a universal one and we intend to fight like hell to get it out into the world and hearts of everyone who needs this story.
Before we jump into the tough news, here’s the good stuff ☀️
10/26 — ONLINE Screening!
We’ll be hosting a LIVE online screening event with Kino+ on Saturday, October 26th at 6pm PT/9pm ET, featuring a Q&A with our cast and more! So many people didn’t have the film playing in a theater near them, so this way EVERYONE in the US can join in on the fun from home.
Even better: You’ll be able to watch the playback for the next few days if you can’t make the live event.

Having less than a week to promote 114 theaters was always going to be a tall order, but thanks to the grassroots organizing of our cast, crew & YOU, we’ve made a huge difference in the lives of people who were able to get to theaters this weekend.
The DMs and emails from people who were able to laugh, cry, and feel so SEEN by the film in theaters will stick with us forever — and playing in theaters is only our first step.
