Before we jump in:
— Thanks to my hometown paper The New Canaanite for the lovely feature this morning!
— Are you an artist struggling with perfectionism? There are spots left for the Thursday night cohort of Try Anyway: Creative Strategy for Perfectionists. Get ready to get to the root of why you’re so hard on yourself and learn to reframe your approach to creative work through kindness and purpose. Begins April 25th on Zoom.
Sedona International Film Festival
Are you ready for this?
EMPIRE WAIST was named Best Empowerment Film and Best Social Impact Film at the 2024 Sedona International Film Festival! I’m deeply proud of our cast and crew’s talent and hard work, and it was so special to share this meaningful win with them this week.
This Weekend: See You in Annapolis!
I’ll be heading down to the Annapolis Film Festival this Thursday through Sunday to screen EMPIRE WAIST and participate in talkbacks alongside my actors, creative partner Crystal Collins, and fellow directors. (How fun is that?)
On Friday, April 5th, we’ll be screening the film for 600 students as part of the Annapolis Film Festival’s Education Day, followed by a Q&A alongside my two lead actors Mia Kaplan (Lenore) and Jemima Yevu (Kayla).
On Saturday, April 6th at 10 am, we’ll be screening the film for the festival’s general audience, followed by a Q&A alongside Mia Kaplan, Jemima Yevu, and Holly McDowell (Tina).
Near Annapolis, MD? Join us on Saturday!
Two More Festivals in May 🍿
If all that wasn’t exciting enough, I’m thrilled to share that EMPIRE WAIST was accepted into two more festivals this coming May.
First, I’ll be heading to the 2024 Dallas International Film Festival to screen the film and hold a Q&A with local high school students on May 1st.
Next, we’ll be taking EMPIRE WAIST to the 2024 Coney Island Film Festival, running in Brooklyn, NY from May 3-5. Stay tuned for showtimes and ticket info!
The Most Wonderful News of All
Last but certainly not least, sweet Wonder—the 10-month-old dog I found on the run in my neighborhood on March 8th—has found his forever home with his amazing foster dad (turned adopted dad) Leif!
Our little buddy is truly flourishing in his new home—which happens to be 4 doors down the hall from me. Leif is my neighbor!
Thank you all for your support on my mission to find this sweet and derpy boy a home.
With love and wonder,
Claire
