Keeping secrets is hard. Keeping secrets about the premiere date for the film you’ve been working on for 5 years is DEVASTATINGLY DIFFICULT. And while I can’t share the premiere date yet (soon!), I’m thrilled to be able to share some beautiful Empire Waist news with you all.
Empire Waist was accepted into the Annapolis Film Festival, taking place in Annapolis, MD from April 4-7.
Even cooler: We were specifically selected to be featured for the festival’s Education Day, meaning I’ll be sharing the film and speaking with 600 students (!!!) on Friday, April 5th, in addition to the screening and Q&A for general festival audiences on Saturday, April 6th.
When I told our lead actors Mia Kaplan (Lenore) and Jemima Yevu (Kayla) about Education Day, they were immediately on-board and are flying in to speak to students and general audiences with me at the festival. And my producer Crystal Collins—with me since Day 1—will be joining us to celebrate, too!
Empire Waist is the film I wish I had as a teen struggling with my body image issues. The fact that our first public screening of the finished film will be with 600 students truly fills my heart.
Live near Annapolis, MD or have friends in the area? Spread the word and let’s pack the house!
So excited to share our film with you 💜
