Yesterday was a pretty surreal day. In the morning, I found out that The GynoKid’s residency at the Kraine Theater was featured in BroadwayWorld!
The fact that they chose the picture of me and my parents taking a bow together on opening night in February was the icing on the cake. I’ll truly remember that moment forever.
Meanwhile, New York City’s air quality reached hazardous levels from Canadian wildfire smoke sweeping south. It was surreal and scary, with the sun glowing bright red and an orange haze sweeping through the city during the afternoon and evening. Last night, I walked, double-masked, to see a friend’s show (the brilliant Natasha Vaynblat was recording her standup special at Union Hall). And I have to say, as odd as it may sound, escaping into a basement to witness a performer in her element was a beautiful tonic for scary times. Look out for Natasha’s album when it comes out because my body still hurts from laughing so hard.
My Friday performance of The GynoKid—including a post-show talkback on gender-affirming care—will still be happening at 7pm at the Kraine Theater, and I’d love to see friends there if you can make it.
However, FRIGID New York also has a great filming setup to deliver shows virtually, so you can join in the fun from home if you’re staying in—either by watching when the show goes live at 7pm ET or anytime after that.
Your health is the most important, so do whatever feels right for you. Most importantly, take care of yourselves and each other.
With love,
Claire
