A Post-Election Note
EMPIRE WAIST is an award-winning project led and shaped by women and artists from marginalized backgrounds.
Our cast and crew includes members of the LGBTQ+ community (including myself), the children of immigrants, and Black, Latino, disabled workers, and more who are now in danger under the incoming administration’s xenophobic, transphobic, and misogynistic platforms and proposed legislation.
I’m saying this to make something clear: My production company Try Anyway Productions will always be a safe space for women and marginalized communities. Sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
WATCH: The Power of Representation On-Screen
Hear from the actors of EMPIRE WAIST about what diversity and representation on-screen means to them. And our trusted healthcare providers share how representation in media impacts and inspires children and adults watching at home.

Grateful to Wellesley College First-Year Kiya Watson for featuring EMPIRE WAIST in the Wellesley News! I was fortunate to meet Kiya at our Cashmerette Screening in Arlington, MA last month, along with several other current students pursuing screenwriting.
The Wellesley alum and professor turnout was INCREDIBLE! I’ll be back at Wellesley November 23rd to screen the film on-campus and can’t wait to meet more students then 💜
With love and strength,
Claire
